Welcome to the Montgomery Community Band!

With the hopes of bringing together musicians interested in playing in an ensemble, in late Fall of 2022, Montgomery Community Band (MCB) founder and trumpet player Joe Fioretti put out a call on Facebook to see if there were others like him. Responses came in every few days ranging from currently active musicians to those who had not played in 40 years or more but still had access to an instrument.  In January 2023 about 50 interested individuals gathered for the first practice and MCB was born. Todd Burrer gave of his time and talent to bring all together as a group and served as the main conductor and Musical Director for the inaugural year.

During our first year, MCB also obtained 501(c)3 status and is able to receive tax deductible donations – the lifeblood of our financial existence.  Thanks to a 2023 grant from the City of Montgomery Economic Development Department, generous support of the Montgomery ISD and personal support of the Fioretti’s and other ensemble members, the band performed for audiences all over the area our first year with four of our own concerts, appearances at the City of Montgomery Fourth of July and Christmas events and small group ensembles playing at senior facilities, small events, and other public functions.

We hope to continue that momentum and continue to be a resource to the community as well as a place where musicians interested in sharing their talents can come and participate. Today we are a group of 65+ and our Sunday practices and concerts are at Lake Creek High School.  The Montgomery Community Band is led by a volunteer board of directors who each take on a different responsibility within the leadership to ensure that the organization has positive growth, direction and embraces opportunities presented for community relationship building and exposure.
